My baby girl is 3. Has it really been 3 years since we packed that delicate little bundle into her car seat and headed home wondering how we were ever going to manage that first night and realizing we were parents? Here we are, or better yet, here she is, 3 years later. I guess we did make it after all. So far… at least. Phew.

Now, here we are with a little one who types me letters when I’m away now. She’s learning to read, has a best friend already, loves dogs and polly pockets. She became a big sister this year and is learning how to help me take care of him. Along with getting that little brother she adores, she learned it meant she needed to get serious about learning some big girl lessons like using the potty, dressing herself and sleeping in her own bed. She adjusted to needing to wear glasses 24/7 and now, even a patch 2 hours a day. She talks now and uses so many grown up expressions, or tries to anyway. I love hearing what she comes up with or her interpretation or the thoughts that are going through her little head. She had her first vacation away from mom and dad in Texas visiting her grandparents. She is a vacuum for information and affection. She cheers me up, drives me crazy, wears me out, gives me newfound energy, helps put things perspective. She teaches me about unconditional love, patience, unselfishness… What did I ever do before Violet came along? I love you, sweet pea, er…. Mermaid princess Ariel Violet.

    Oh Violet! Happy birthday many times over. It sounds like you had such a fun year- being two. Now when I was 2….. Well, I can’t really remember back that far. Thank you always for the beautiful pictures!
