Here are those pics I tried to upload earlier from February and March of our little munchkins, now affectionately dubbed, “Bubs” and “Babs!”

Little Preston Sawyer Martin, that is. Congratulations Linda and Steve on the arrival of the new little one. I heard last night was the night and that you did wonderful, Linda! I’m so happy for you and will really try to come by tonight. I’m praying you are recovering well and that the little guy sleeps at least today so you can recoup your strength. I hear he’s big!

on the birth of little Scarlett. I really like that name. I tried working on Justin to use that if we had a girl when I was pg with Jude. I just thought it went well with Violet. Ah, well… maybe in the future. I hope you’re doing well and adjusting well. It’s a lot of work having 2 little ones, especially in the newborn phase. I’m praying for you all. She is adorable though and makes me miss having a little girl sooo much. I want a newborn again, but don’t want to go through labor/delivery/pregnancy again just yet. I’ll just have to come baby sit for you all.

Another day older and deeper in debt? That would be mommy and daddy going into debt trying to keep Jude in clothes. Heh. Okay, I’m being dramatic here — I actually get most of his clothes given to me and haven’t had to buy him much of anything (except pacifiers) yet. Phew… that’s a life saver. This month I’d say the major changes in Jude are he’s gotten much more interactive. He starts kicking and squirming whenever a kid walks by and wants me to follow them. Of course, that doesn’t always work, so the past few days he’s started grunting very loudly when there’s something he wants me to do. He’s working so hard to figure everything out and what works best to get mommy and daddy to do his bidding. He’s got so much to do and is so anxious to get going. He also got his first two teeth. Doesn’t sit up by himself yet, but will use the high chair. His hair has started growing. He’s developing a great sense of humor. He scoots like an inch worm and gives the best hugs and kisses in the whole world.

Thing 1 and Thing 2

Check’em out. Came in last week a day apart from each other and from the feel of it, he’s got a few more trying to make their debut. The Jude’s got teeth sprouting out and now believes himself ready to take on some “man food”.

Blame those genes

Jude’s officially the size of a 9 month old.  He scored in the 97 percentile for height/weight and head size. At least he’s a guy. I blame the Wells genes, but you never know… could be that 6 foot 7 Paone/Bennington great grandpa I hear about finally getting his revenge. He’s 28 inches tall, 19 lbs and 10 oz and, well, who cares about head size anyway? Just one more way that all the cute clothes i have for him don’t fit right and get passed along to Amy and Linda for little Connor and Preston.

Violet needs some patching on her right eye — a few hours a day. Pray that goes well. We got her a few cute patches that go over her glasses. She did well though. She’s getting the whole procedure down now and is a real pro at all the little tests the doctor does. She’s using her eyes together and the crossing is fixed so far, but one eye is just a little weaker and the doctor wants to see it stronger. Ah, well.

Violet tried giving away Jude the other day. I couldn’t believe it. She really loves her brother (or so I thought), but her friend was eating a lollipop the other day and Violet really wanted one too. I tried to explain to her that life is not always equal (in much simpler terms). –That she has special things that I’m sure Carly wishes she had too. Like Violet has Jude. Violet promptly replied… “Carly can have Jude. I want lollipop.” I tried to explain that brothers are forever, lollipops get eaten, but nope. “I want lollipop. I don’t want Jude.” Grrrr…..She didn’t get the lollipop, BTW. I think Carly may have wanted it more than Jude too. Poor Jude – the unwanted.

Yep, we made it to 4 months. Colic is gone (thank God) and the smiles and laughs come more and more frequently. “Vain” is his middle name, but hey… when mom needs to put on make up (no, I am not vain) it helps to have a little guy who’ll sit there and enjoy his own company in the mirror for a good 10 minutes.

He’s a sweet little guy who adores his big sis. Let’s just hope she can teach him to stay OUT of trouble. WDYT, Violet? I don’t know his specs yet. I know he’s a lump and a half to carry around or a sack of potatos? He’s dying to try food. Not sure I can hold this one off till 6 months. He still hates the car seat, but loves the Johny Jump Up. This month… the exersaucer. Yippee. I’ll let you know what chunky weights next week at his 4 month pediatrician visit. Here’s a picture of the little guy. Violet’s here helping me choose and wants to know “Where’s I?” So here she is too. My little loves.

I’m sure this is somewhat just common sense, but I read a news article about a mother of a newborn who was lamenting that no one warned her how dangerous the cold sore (herpes) virus is in newborns. Apparently she developed her first cold sore a few days after giving birth and didn’t think much of it. Her baby got a little runny eye, but then a few days later passed away from the virus. She asked the doctors why they don’t warn you and they said, well, it’s so rare.

So, I thought to put this out there for any of you with newborns or who are around any newborns to stay away if you have a cold sore. If you are the mom and have a cold sore, be extremely careful and… pray, I guess. Don’t kiss your baby and, of course, wash your hands and keep people with cold sores away from your baby.

Odds’n'ends

I weighed and measured our friendly little giant today. He’s now 27 inches long and 19 pounds. Phew! No wonder he’s working through his 6-9 month stuff. He’s such a happy baby these days. Mari (Windy’s sister) has been here visiting and Jude has his first crush already. She’s been helping with him while I try to catch up on the huge backlog of work you get when you have a baby. :p – Thank you, Mari.  It feels like he’s growing up even faster than Violet did. I’m scared! He’s so alert and is already learning how to get what he wants through his charm. Little rascal.

Violet’s shooting up like a bean. She’s getting so skinny. I can’t tell if it’s because she was a little sick or just a growth spurt. She did shoot up almost 2 inches since last August. Gotta work on getting a style of clothing that fits her shape, tall and skinny.

Anyways… here are a few pictures of the clan from January.
